Pahalgam Attack Live updates: The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, Nukaga Fukushiro, conveyed his country's full cooperation to India in fighting terrorism as he condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians, mostly tourists, dead.

Low-lying areas in Pakistan are facing a flood threat as the Chenab River continues to swell, flowing nearly 5 to 7 feet above its normal level. The situation has been triggered by continuous rainfall in the upper regions since late last night.

Pakistan officials have issued alerts in several areas, including Surakhpur, Head Marala, Kuri, Mari Khokhran, Bahlolpur, and Gangwal, which are particularly vulnerable due to their proximity to the river. Residents have been advised to stay alert as water levels continue to rise.
 

Deepak Singh, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Mumbai, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a total ban on Pakistani entertainment content available on digital platforms in India.

In his letter, Singh said that a large portion of viewership for Pakistani TV serials and digital content on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook comes from India, giving these channels major economic benefits. He raised concerns that this revenue could be indirectly used to fund activities that go against India’s national interest. 

“More than 85% of the audience for Pakistani content comes from India, while only 10-15% is from Pakistan itself. This means Indian viewers are unknowingly strengthening the anti-India ecosystem,” Singh stated.

He urged the government to take immediate steps to ban all Pakistani YouTube channels, Instagram accounts, and Facebook pages that gain monetary benefit through Indian traffic.

Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has publicly acknowledged the country's troubled past with terrorism, stating that it is "not a secret" that Pakistan has a history of dealing with extremist elements. His remarks came during an interview with Sky News journalist Yalda Hakim on Thursday.

Responding to questions about Pakistan’s historical support to terror outfits, Bhutto said, “As far as what the Defence Minister said, I don’t think it is a secret that Pakistan has a past... We have suffered, Pakistan has suffered. We have gone through wave after wave of extremism.”

Bhutto claimed that Pakistan has since undergone reforms and drawn lessons from the consequences of past policies. “It is true that it is an unfortunate part of our history, but it is not something that we are partaking in today,” he added.

His statement comes days after Defence Minister Khawaja Asif admitted that Pakistan supported and funded terror groups for decades. In the same series of interviews with Sky News, Asif said, “We have been doing this dirty work for the United States for about three decades… and the West, including Britain. That was a mistake, and we suffered for that.” 

With Pakistan repeatedly provoking India along the Line of Control (LoC), residents living along the International Border are gripped with fear, anticipating they could be the next targets of cross-border firing.

Suresh Sharma, a resident of Chak Sadda village in Jammu, lives just 500 meters from a Pakistani post. Every night, he moves his family into a 'model bunker' built near his home to ensure their safety.

“We have no idea when the firing might start. That’s why we go to the bunker every night after dinner,” said Sharma. Like many others in the region, he relies on the government-constructed bunker to shield his family from potential shelling.

These underground shelters, provided by the Government of India, have become lifelines for border residents who have lived for years under the shadow of uncertainty and tension.

BJP leader Ravinder Raina lauded the Indian army response to the Pakistan Army's unprovoked small arms firing across the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of May 1-2 in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, and Poonch districts, as well as in the Naushera and Akhnoor sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.

He also visited the village areas adjacent to the LoC (Line of Control) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Director General (DG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently in Srinagar, where he is spending his second day reviewing the ongoing investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack. The NIA DG is holding meetings with officials directly involved in the case to assess progress and strategize further actions.

Yesterday, the DG personally visited the Barson Valley in Pahalgam, where the attack took place, and spent over three hours inspecting the site. 

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday made shocking claims regarding Pakistan, suggesting that nearly 10,000 people have been killed and disappeared. He said that the Pakistan Army had ordered the terrorist Hafiz Saeed and fugitive Dawood Ibrahim to "eliminate the Baluchis".

"The army has ordered the bloodthirsty Hafiz Saeed and Dawood Ibrahim to eliminate the Baluchis and protesters from India. In the last 15 days, about 10 thousand people have been killed and disappeared. Pakistan is in pieces," Dubey made these claims in a post on X.

Police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have launched a series of joint operations in the villages along the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer. The heightened security measures come following intelligence inputs suggesting potential threats in the area.

Authorities have set up barricades along the roads leading to the border, and every individual moving through the area is being thoroughly questioned. Several suspects have already been arrested as part of the ongoing operation.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a preliminary investigation report on the recent Pahalgam terror attack, revealing a deep-rooted conspiracy involving Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, the ISI, and the Pakistan Army. The report names two Pakistani terrorists—Hashim Musa and Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai—who were reportedly in constant touch with handlers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and received direct instructions from across the border.

India is set to host the first-ever Global Media Dialogue (GMD) today in Mumbai, as part of the WAVES 2025 initiative. The event is being organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with support from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Delegates from over 60 countries—including the UK, Japan, Russia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia—are attending the dialogue. Many are participating at the ministerial or senior official level, showing the importance of this global media platform.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Pakistan) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has launched a strong attack on Pakistan's military establishment, questioning its India-centric approach and calling for a shift towards political and economic reforms to address national challenges.

Addressing a gathering, Rehman said Pakistan cannot move forward unless the military strategy is balanced with political wisdom and economic planning. He particularly criticised the country’s handling of relations with Afghanistan, saying Islamabad had failed to engage diplomatically even with the Taliban government, which had the potential to be pro-Pakistan.

‘Taliban was a diplomatic opportunity’

Citing historical context, Rehman said, “From King Zahir Shah to Ashraf Ghani, Afghanistan has always had pro-India governments. Now, even the Taliban regime shows signs of leaning towards India. We had a golden chance to bring them closer through diplomacy, but we pushed them away.”

Rehman warned that continuing to see foreign relations only through a military lens would harm Pakistan’s long-term interests. “There are long lines of freight vehicles stuck on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Public property is being wasted. This is the result of wrong policies,” he added.

Pakistan's envoy to the US has urged President Donald Trump to help ease tensions with India as he simultaneously strives to solve conflicts in Europe and West Asia, Newsweek reported.

Pakistan's Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that for a president "who is standing for peace in the world as a pronounced objective during this administration”, there was no “higher or flashier flash point” than Kashmir.

His remark comes amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan after terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.

Rajasthan Intelligence has arrested a Jaisalmer resident, Pathan Khan, for allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), an official release said.

As per an official release, authorities stated that the accused Pathan Khan visited Pakistan in 2013 and came in contact with officers of the Intelligence Agency of Pakistan.

The man was detained about a month ago and has been questioned since then. He was formally arrested on May 1 2025.

A case has been registered against the Pathan Khan under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
