Indian Army to participate in Exercise Bright Star-23 in Cairo
The exercise will be hosted by Egypt. It will start on 27th August 2023 and will end on 16th September 2023. It will be held at Cairo Air Force Base.
The Indian Army will participate in EX Bright Star 2023 in Egypt from August 27 to September 16. It is a multinational tri-service exercise being held between India, Egypt, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Qatar. It will be held at Cairo Air Force Base. It is a biennial multilateral tri-service exercise and will see participation from the Indian Army.
Indian Army’s participation in Ex Bright Star 2023
The Indian Army will play a significant role in the exercise along with the Indian Air Force and Navy. The exercise is held in the Middle East and North African region. The main aim of this exercise is to enhance cooperation and share best practices between both armies.
Participant countries will work on promoting international peace and promote regional and international security. The main aim of this exercise is to counter emerging threats in the global scenario and promote international peace and security around the world. India will also share the tactics and weaponry with participant nations and vice versa to work towards an untoward security situation around the world, especially among the threats from China and the ongoing Russo-Ukraine war.
The Indian Army’s best of the best lot will participate in this exercise and will represent the firepower of the Indian military. India will also work with other participant nations like the US, India, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Qatar, etc. This exercise will also enhance preparedness and will train the troops to deal with future warfare and tactics.
An interesting screengrab from the video shared by the Indian Army on its official Twitter handle ADGPI shows Indian troops using DRDO’s IRDE (Instrument’s Research and Development Establishment). IRDE is devoted to research, design, development and technology transfer in optical and electro-optical instrumentation primarily for defence services. The vision of IRDE is to achieve excellence in the field of Optics and Electro-Optical instrumentation with a commitment to provide high-quality instruments.
The main mission of the IRDE is to design and develop state-of-the-art Night vision devices and Thermal imagers. Its aim is also to design, and develop compact laser-based instruments, to design and develop Integrated Electro-optical Surveillance and Fire Control Systems. It is also responsible for carrying out research in the area of photonics.
The Indian Army also released a video on its official Twitter handle about its participation in the exercise. The Indian Army will be using all its modern advanced weapons in the exercise and will share the best of its training, and knowledge with the participating militaries. This exercise will also showcase India’s capability to participate in and counter global threats that threaten the boundaries of India or its allies. This exercise continues with a command post-exercise designed to help standardise command and control procedures with a large-scale field training exercise to practice everything together.
