IndiGo Flight 6E 225 Hits Pole After Landing At Srinagar Airport, Passengers Safe

Srinagar: Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Navi Mumbai experienced a brief scare on Friday morning after the aircraft made contact with a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole while taxiing into its assigned parking bay at Srinagar International Airport.

Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew members on board are safe, with no injuries reported.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:02 AM involving IndiGo flight 6E 225 (aircraft registration VT-NOG). 

The plane, which had recently landed in the Jammu and Kashmir capital after arriving from Navi Mumbai, was being manoeuvred into Bay No. 06 when it came into contact with the VDGS pole during the parking process.

Following the contact, ground crew and airport safety personnel immediately executed standard safety procedures.

The aircraft was brought to a complete standstill, and manual aircraft stairs were brought in to disembark all passengers and crew safely. Everyone on board was guided into the terminal building without further disruption.

In an official press release, Srinagar Airport officials confirmed the details of the event. "IndiGo flight 6E 225 operating from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar was involved in an incident while being positioned at Bay No. 06 at Srinagar Airport at approximately 0902 Hrs. The aircraft came into contact with the VDGS pole during the parking process. All passengers and crew members are safe, and no injuries have been reported," the airport authority stated.

Aviation regulatory authorities and airport officials have launched an inquiry to examine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. 

Officials noted that prescribed procedures will be followed during the probe, evaluating factors such as ground guidance, signalling systems, and taxiing manoeuvres. 

Authorities emphasised that no conclusions regarding the cause are being drawn until the full investigation is complete.

Despite the ground incident, overall operations at Srinagar Airport remained normal throughout the morning, with all other arrivals and departures continuing as per schedule. 

Airport management reiterated its ongoing commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and efficient operations for all passengers and aviation stakeholders.
