Pune: A jewellery shop in Pune's Raviwar Peth area was looted of over Rs 3 crore worth of gold ornaments and cash.

The incident occurred on New Year's Eve, December 31st. The incident was caught on the shop's CCTV, in which a man wearing a white hoodie can be seen opening the locker, with his back shown, stealing 5kg gold.

As per the shop's owner, the thief also stole Rs 10 lakh in cash from the counter.

According to the police, the thief had emptied the entire locker filled with gold jewellery.

However, as per the official's investigation, an employee of the showroom might have been involved in the heist as there was no sign of forced entry into the showroom.

Speaking to ANI, Senior Police Inspector Dada Chuddpa said, "The theft took place in the Raviwar Peth area on December 31. There was no forced entry; instead, it seems an unknown person made a duplicate key to access the shop."

For now, a case has been registered and further investigations are underway. A separate team of officials has been assigned to track the thief.
