Kathua Incident: J&K Police Confirms Recovery of 3 Missing Men’s Bodies, No Mention Of Terror Links | Image: PTI

New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir Police has issued a statement on Sunday, confirming the recovery of the bodies of three Hindu civilians, who went missing from Kathua district in Jammu on Friday. But the statement did not mention any terror links as earlier claimed by a terror group affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, who claimed responsibility for the killings. 

In a statement, Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG JKS Range, expressed sympathy for the families of the deceased, assuring that the ongoing investigation is being closely monitored. 

Sharma stressed that the deployment of jawans and ongoing investigation would lead to concrete results. He assured that all details would come to light as the investigation progresses.

'Smriti Smarak' for Three Deceased

In the memory of three men, Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced on X, “a 'Smriti Smarak' will be constructed from my MP fund (MP FUND) in accordance with the sentiments of the families of the three deceased.”

"The design and planning of this memorial will be done under the supervision of our public representative and leader of Billawar, Mr. Satish Sharma. DC Kathua Mr. Rakesh Minhas has been informed about this matter." he added.

‘Barbaric Murder’: J&K CM Reacts

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister in a X post wrote, "Deeply shocked and saddened by the barbaric murder of three innocent civilians, including a minor boy, in Kathua."

"Such heinous acts have no place in our society and must be met with the strongest condemnation. My heartfelt condolences to the grieving families." he added.

To enhance security, the police are reinforcing the Village Defense Groups (VDG), with a focus on training young members. Additional teams will be deployed to further bolster the efforts.
