Maha Kumbh 2025: The Uttar Pradesh jail administration has arranged to deliver holy water from the Sangam in Prayagraj to 75 prisons across the state.

UP Jail Minister Dara Singh Chauhan, who supervised the process at the Lucknow Jail, explained, "While people from all over the world can visit Sangam, our inmates cannot. So, we decided to bring the holy water to them." The state currently has over 90,000 inmates across 75 jails, including seven central prisons, according to Prison Department officials.

Director General of Prisons, PV Ramasastry, stated that the arrangements were made for inmates to bathe with the sacred water, under the supervision of the minister.

The holy water from Sangam was brought to the jails, mixed with regular water, and stored in small tanks. The inmates were then allowed to take a bath in the water after offering prayers, as per the officials.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is currently underway in Prayagraj and will conclude on February 26.
