Man Throws Acid on Face of Ex-Wife In Kerala's Kozhikode, Arrested
A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking his ex-wife with acid when she went to a government Ayurveda hospital in Perambra for treatment.
Kozhikode: A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking his ex-wife with acid when she went to a government Ayurveda hospital in Perambra for treatment on Sunday, police said.
The accused has been identified as Prashant, a resident of Naduvannur in the district.
The victim, K Prabhisha, 29, who had divorced Prashant three years ago, was living with her parents at the time.
According to the police, the incident took place when she visited the government Ayurveda hospital in Cheruvannur, Perambra, in the morning.
Although the woman attempted to escape, the man chased her down and poured acid on her once more, hospital sources stated.
"The woman suffered burns to her face and chest and is currently being treated at the Government Medical College Hospital," a police official confirmed.
Prashant's arrest was made after a case was filed against him under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Meanwhile, in a tragic incident, an 18-year-old girl from Thalassery, Kerala , died on Sunday due to anorexia nervosa while undergoing treatment at the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital.
According to reports, the teenager, identified as Sree Nanda had stopped eating for almost six months and had been surviving only on water after following online website portals for weight loss.
Anorexia nervosa is not a new illness; it has been recognized since 1689. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) defines the condition as and when a person puts restrictions on nutrient intake relative to requirements, which can lead to significantly low body weight.
