Noida Protest Day 2: Wages Hiked, to Be Credited Before 10th of Every Month: Govt Finally Yields to Protesters’ Demands

Noida Protest Day 2 LIVE: Uttar Pradesh DGP Rajiv Krishna on Tuesday asserted that the situation in Noida is "absolutely normal" following the recent workers' protest, with senior officers stationed at the spot and constant communication being maintained.

"The situation is absolutely normal in Noida. All senior officers are present here. We are in constant communication with our officers in Noida. We receive different inputs through social media, media and through UP 112. Situation is normal everywhere," he said.

Krishna further revealed that electronic and CCTV evidence has identified certain individuals and groups responsible for provocations during the protest, and action is being taken against them. Appealing to the workers, the DGP said the government has already decided on appropriate salaries and urged them to maintain peace and not fall for any lures.
 

Noida Protest Day 2 LIVE: Following the workers' unrest, Gautam Buddha Nagar DM Medha Roopam announced a wage hike and other measures, thanking the CM and high-powered committee.

Key directives include salary credit before the 10th of each month, annual bonuses before November, and double pay for overtime and weekly holiday work.

Sexual harassment committees led by women and complaint boxes will be set up.

Urging peace, she said violence is not the answer and released control room numbers for workers to register complaints for prompt action. 

Noida Protest Day 2 LIVE: The investigation into the Noida violence has intensified, with police probing several masked individuals who joined the workers' mob disguised as labourers.

Evidence suggests trained youth were involved in the violence, creating a ruckus and committing arson on the streets. Noida police have also seized multiple videos and conducted raids across several states in search of these masked anti-social elements.

Noida Protest Day 2 LIVE: Sub Inspector Mata Prasad Gupta said that house cleaning workers were staging a sit-in protest over their demands when some miscreants started throwing stones at police.

'We spoke to them. Some miscreants began pelting stones, due to which I got these injuries. Some have been caught and will be questioned further,' he said.

His remarks come amid ongoing workers' protests over minimum wage demands, which turned violent on Monday with stone-pelting and vehicles being set on fire after an altercation with police.

In a post on X, Congress MP wrote, "What happened yesterday on the roads of Noida was the final cry of this country's workers--one whose every voice was ignored, who grew weary from endless pleading. A worker in Noida earns a monthly salary of ₹12,000; rent costs ₹4,000-7,000. By the time he gets a ₹300 annual raise, the landlord hikes the rent by ₹500 a year."
