21-Year-Old Student Smashes Heads of Parents and Sister, Kills Them for Opposing His Addiction to Online Gaming

Jagatsinghpur: A 21-year-old student has been arrested for killing his parents and sister and killing them for opposing his addiction to online gaming. The accused used stones to smash the heads of his family members; he tried to hide after committing the crime but was later taken into police custody.

A 21-year-old college student, who lived in Jayabada Sethi Sahi area under Jagatsinghpur Police Station in Odisha, used stones and other hard objects to smash the heads of his father, mother, and sister; he killed his family members in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The shocking incident has been reported by the Superintendent of Police Bhawani Sankar Udgata.

21-Year-Old Man Kills Family Members for Stopping Him from his Online Gaming Addiction

According to the SP, the accused, Surjyakant Sethy hid near the village but was later arrested; he also suspected that the accused had a mental problem. According to the villagers, the 21-year-old had confessed to killing his parents and sister. A preliminary investigation revealed that accused Surjyakant Sethy was annoyed with his parents and sister for "opposing him playing online games on his mobile phone", Jagatsinghpur Police Station inspector-in-charge Prabhas Sahu said.

The deceased have been identified as Prasant Sethy alias Kalia, who was 65 years old, his wife Kanaklata, who was aged 62, and their daughter Rosalin, who was 25. The bodies of the three deceased members of the family have been sent for postmortem. 

Odisha Triple Murder: Accused Arrested, Investigation Underway

The accused, who had hidden after committing the crime, has now been arrested. An investigation is underway and an SP-led police team and a science team has reached the spot.
