New Delhi: Chaos erupted aboard a Pune-bound SpiceJet flight departing from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after passengers experienced severe breathing difficulties due to a sudden spike in the cabin.

The incident came to light while the aircraft was taxiing toward the runway for takeoff. According to onboard reports, the air conditioning system suddenly malfunctioned, causing the cabin temperature to shoot up rapidly within minutes.

Trapped inside the sealed metal tube, several passengers began suffocating, sweating profusely, and struggling to breathe properly amid the rising heat and stifling air.

Panic quickly swept through the aisle as distressed flyers desperately tried to cool themselves with safety manuals and magazines.

When alarmed passengers raised their concerns and requested immediate assistance or a delay in takeoff to fix the cooling issue, the situation deteriorated further.

Allegations emerged that the cabin crew and the pilot responded with insensitivity, misbehaving with the passengers and aggressively ordering them to return to their seats rather than addressing their medical discomfort.

The hostility from the crew fueled intense argument and chaos on board. Passengers demanded that the pilot abort the taxiing and return the plane to the bay.

Following the widespread uproar, it came to light that the aircraft had indeed experienced a technical glitch involving its ventilation system.

Furious over the negligence and mistreatment, several passengers have voiced strong outrage, accusing the airline staff of playing with human lives and exhibiting sheer unprofessionalism.

Highlighting the serious health risks posed by the lack of airflow, especially to elderly travellers and children, the aggrieved passengers have now demanded strict regulatory action on SpiceJet by aviation authorities, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

This adds to a growing list of operational and service-related complaints against the low-cost carrier, renewing widespread concerns about passenger safety and the standardisation of staff training in domestic aviation. SpiceJet is yet to release an official response regarding the allegations of staff misconduct.
