Patna Violence: Mob Torches Bus, Police Outpost After Fatal Road Accident on NH-30

Patna: Violence broke out on Bihar's NH-30 near Masaurhi Mor on Thursday after a man was killed in a road accident, triggering protests and arson by an angry mob.

The deceased, identified as Manish, was reportedly crossing the road when he was hit by a car. Following the accident, enraged locals blocked the highway and set the vehicle involved in the incident on fire.

The protest soon turned violent, with mobs torching several vehicles, including a bus and a police vehicle. Protesters also pelted stones at police personnel, vandalised a police outpost, and later set it ablaze. Several people, including journalists covering the unrest, sustained injuries during the violence.

Heavy police deployment was rushed to the area to restore order as clashes continued for some time.

Speaking on the incident, ASP Raj Kishor Singh said, "There was a road accident in which a man died. Following the incident, people blocked the road and set the vehicle involved in the accident on fire. A police vehicle was also torched. The victim was crossing the road when he was hit by a car. We are maintaining law and order, and the situation is now under control."

Authorities have launched an investigation into both the fatal accident and the subsequent violence. Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any further escalation.
