Dewas (MP): Pramod Verma, the son of former BJP MLA Surendra Verma on Friday night attempted suicide by consuming poison after allegedly being harassed by his wife. He was rushed to a private hospital and later referred to Indore for advanced treatment. A four-page suicide note was recovered from his phone, in which he accused his wife, mother-in-law, and brothers-in-law of mental torture and warned men against marriage.

15-Year-Old Marriage Turned Bitter

According to Surendra Verma, his son Pramod got married in 2009, but the fight began within a year. His wife had previously filed two cases against him and his family at a women’s police station.

The matter even reached court, but a compromise was made with the mediation of society members.

Despite attempts to resolve the issues, Pramod’s wife allegedly pressured him to shift to Indore, but he refused.

To ease tensions, his father bought them a house in Mridul Vihar, hoping they could live peacefully. However, the disputes continued, leading to another heated argument on Friday night, after which Pramod consumed pesticide.

The Suicide Note: A Cry for Help

In his suicide note, Pramod accused his wife, her mother, and her two brothers of harassing him for years. He expressed deep regret for his decision and apologized to his family.

"Please forgive me. I could not become a good son, a good brother, or a good father. Never get married, it is not necessary."

He also stated, "I am ending my life. My wife, mother-in-law, and brothers-in-law are responsible for my death. They have mentally tortured me a lot. We had to fight to save our self-respect. My father was an honest MLA who never misused his position. Our family has always lived with dignity."

In a controversial statement, Pramod blamed the legal system for ignoring men's issues.

"The government needs to stop focusing only on saving and educating daughters. Because of this, many families have been destroyed."

Emotional Outburst from Family

During an interview, Pramod’s father broke down, revealing that his son was pressured to become a live-in son-in-law and threatened multiple times. He alleged that money was used to influence the case and that men are often not heard in police stations and courts.

Pramod’s mother also became emotional and cried on camera, expressing her helplessness over the situation.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Authorities have recovered wedding documents, old case files, and FIR copies from Pramod’s mobile. His sister-in-law, Jaya Verma, has also spoken to the media, demanding justice for him.

The case has sparked a debate on men’s rights and marital disputes, with calls for a more balanced legal approach. Investigations are ongoing, and further legal actions are expected.
