PM Modi and President Trump Share a Great Rapport: US Spy Chief Tulsi Gabbard
PM Modi visited the US last month, making him one of the first world leaders to meet Trump after the start of his second term.
New Delhi: US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard spoke about the strong personal rapport between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump , calling them “very good friends” who are focused on shared objectives.
Speaking to news agency ANI in an interview on Monday, Gabbard said their recent meeting was a great opportunity to reinforce their joint vision for strengthening the US-India partnership.
"Prime Minister Modi and President Trump share a great rapport. Their meeting last month was a very important moment for them to discuss their shared vision and how we can continue to strengthen our partnership,” she said.
PM Modi visited the US last month, making him one of the first world leaders to meet Trump after the start of his second term. During his visit, PM Modi held talks with Trump, senior US officials, and Gabbard herself.
‘US-India Relationship is Full of Opportunity’
Gabbard expressed optimism about the future of US-India relations, emphasizing collaboration in multiple sectors, including intelligence, trade, defense, and education.
“The meetings that I’ve had here with different Indian government and intelligence officials have been focused on how we can integrate further and strengthen our ties. There’s nothing but opportunity in the US-India partnership,” she said.
On China and Global Stability
When asked about China, Gabbard noted that both PM Modi and Trump are “very practical and pragmatic” and are working to maintain stability while preventing conflict.
“The goal we all share is to achieve peace and ensure stability,” she added.
On Islamist Terrorism and Pakistan
Addressing the issue of Pakistan-based terrorism, Gabbard reiterated Trump’s firm stance on fighting Islamist terrorism and highlighted India’s role in combating the threat.
“From his first term, President Trump has been very clear about his commitment to defeating this threat that has plagued us. India, Bangladesh , Syria, and Israel have all been victims of Islamist terrorism, and this is a threat that Prime Minister Modi takes seriously as well. Our two countries will work together to identify and eliminate this threat,” she said.
Gabbard’s Faith and Connection to the Bhagavad Gita
Reflecting on her personal beliefs, Gabbard who was the first Hindu member of the US Congress shared how the teachings of Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita have guided her in both challenging and triumphant times.
“Whether serving in war zones or facing challenges today, I turn to Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita in both the best and worst of times,” she said.
Moreover, sources told ANI that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh raised concerns over anti-India activities by the Khalistani organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) in the United States, asking the US administration to take strict action against the unlawful group.
