Maldives New Defence Building In Male Features PM Modi's Photo, Big Signal For Boosting Ties With India

Male: A cutout of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was displayed on a defence building in Malé, Maldives, during his visit to the island nation, as the two countries step forward to strengthen bilateral ties.

A big cutout of Prime Minister was featured on a defence building as PM Modi received a grand ceremonial welcome in Maldives. He was received by President Mohamed Muizzu. The two held a bilateral meeting and discussed India-Maldives cooperation in various sectors. 

PM Modi's cutout was displayed on the new building of Maldives Ministry of Defence in Male which he inaugurated jointly with President Muizzu. The occasion was seen as yet another instance of strong India-Maldives cooperation.

During the visit, PM Modi also addressed a gathering at the banquet hosted by President Mohamed Muizzu.

Prior to that, PM Modi presented BHISHM cubes to President Muizzu, reaffirming India’s partnership in service of the people.

Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita & Maitri (BHISHM) is a symbol of India’s commitment to timely and compassionate healthcare support. These deployable medical cubes carry essential medicines and equipment for emergency care.

Addressing the issue of climate change, PM Modi said, “India and the Maldives fully understand the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. And, we are committed to doing everything possible to boost sustainability.”

“This evening in Male, President Muizzu and I planted saplings, strengthening ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (a tree for Mother) initiative and Pledge of 5 million Tree Plantation of the Maldives Government.”

Not just this, the two leaders released a stamp to mark 60 years of India-Maldives friendship as the ties are getting stronger with the passage of time and are benefitting the people of our nations.

Earlier today, during bilateral talks with President Muizzu, PM Modi said, “Held very fruitful discussions with the President. Maldives is at the core of our ‘Neighbourhood First’ and Mahasagar Vision. Our discussion covered several sectors, notably commercial and cultural linkages. We both agree that the India-Maldives friendship will always be bright and clear.”
