PM Modi Arrives Gujarat, Takes Part in ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Event on International Women’s Day

PM Modi visits Surat on March 7 to launch the Food Security Campaign, benefiting 2,00,000 people under PMGKAY. He will also participate in the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ event on International Women’s Day, where women officers will manage law-and-order with a force of 2,165 women constables.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Gujarat on March 7, 2025, with a special focus on women's empowerment. On March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, he will travel to Navsari district to lead the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ at Vansi-Borsi. As part of the initiative, he will disburse over Rs 450 crore to more than 2.5 lakh women from over 25,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state.

Our demand and request to the Central govt is to freeze the 1971 census, and on that, the delimitation process should carry on or on a pro-rata basis for each state, and the percentage of increase in the number of parliament should be taken."

On the eve of Women's Day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually interacts with two Indian Navy women officers, Lt Cdr Roopa A and Lt Cdr Dilna K, who are on a globe-circumnavigating expedition, Navika Sagar Parikrama II, onboard INSV Tarini.

He says, "I congratulate both of you for this expedition... Every Indian feels proud of both of you. You both are like my children, my daughter. The PM has conveyed his best wishes. When you are back, he will meet you. I am waiting for you to return, I will welcome you personally."

SC grants interim bail to Abbas Ansari in UP Gangsters case

Supreme Court grants interim bail to Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party MLA Abbas Ansari in a case under the UP Gangsters Act, with conditions.

SC directed that Ansari must stay at his official accommodation in Lucknow, seek prior permission from the District Administration and the trial court to visit his constituency.

Further, SC directed that Ansari cannot leave Uttar Pradesh without the trial court’s permission. The court also directed that Ansari must not make any public statements about ongoing cases before the Court. However, the Court clarified that Ansari’s right to defend himself in these cases should remain unaffected.

SC also directed that Ansari must appear before the trial court whenever required.

The top court has listed the matter after six weeks and has directed that a status report be filed on the UP police’s conduct with Ansari.
