As Delhi which is already suffering a severe pollution crisis, celebrates a cracker-free Diwali, stirring a major controversy on Monday, BJP leader Kapil Mishra gave a communal spin to the festival. He tweeted against the stringent cracker restrictions in Delhi stating that ' To reduce pollution, stop these kinds of explosions, not Diwali crackers'. He had attached a huge Muslim family's photos along with it.

Complaint filed against 'hate-inciting' tweet
This controversial tweet triggered a major tweetstorm with many slamming the communal tweet and many supporting the BJP leaders' view. Soon, activist Saket Gokhale filed a complaint against Mishra for 'inciting hate-speech against minorities'. Gokhale had added that incase his complaint was not registered, he would seek judicial recourse. His complaint has been registered by the authorities according to ANI.
Delhi Police cracks down on cracker violation
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has cracked its whip on bursting illegal firecrackers. The police stated on Monday, that more than 160 people were arrested for violating the Supreme Court-mandated two-hour window to burst green crackers in Delhi on Diwali night. According to the data released by police, 371 cases were registered and 3,500 kg banned firecrackers were seized last night.
Of the total cases, 56 were registered for storing and selling firecrackers illegally and 44 people were arrested. The rest 315 cases were registered for bursting illegal firecrackers and also for bursting any cracker outside the two-hour window. 166 people were arrested for the offences, the data showed.
