VP Naidu pays tribute to predecessor S Radhakrishnan on Teachers' Day
Vice President pays tribute to Dr. S Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary on Teacher's Day, he also addressed the teachers of the nation greeting them
Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu, has paid his respects to India's Former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, on the occasion of Teachers' Day on Thursday. He called Dr. S Radhakrishnan a great teacher and an intellectual giant in his tweet. Vice President Naidu also mentioned that Dr. S Radhakrishnanwho served as the first Vice President of India and the second President of India was also an eloquent exponent of Hindu philosophy. He called the teacher of the nation as the key architects of national development.
Vice President sends wishes on Teachers' Day
In a series of tweets, the Vice President spoke about the Gurukulas system. He said that as Indians, people should be proud that they were the inheritors of the Gurukulas system, as it was a system where studies and environment were brought together. He also mentioned that in the Gurukul system promoted the concept of 'Vidya' as a process of discovery.
Furthermore, he addressed the current issue faced by the school and education system.
"We need more teachers who can build in our children a commitment to the values of democracy, equality, freedom, justice, secularism, concern for others well being, respect for human dignity & human rights. Children should be made aware of our rich heritage & the glorious history," he said.
Vice President Naidu has also asked all teachers at all levels in the country at high schools, colleges, and universities to rededicate themselves. Thye should pledge that they would transform the classrooms into hubs of joyful learning and raise the entire education system to a much higher level than what exists today. Lastly, he mentioned how the teachers lay the foundations of a vibrant nation through their knowledge, attitude, behaviour, and the ability to create the right conditions for learning.
Wishes from other leaders
Several other political leaders also tweeted about Teachers day. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the nation saluted India's teaching community. He also paid his homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his Jayanti.
Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh also posted on his twitter account greeting all the teachers of India and wishing them Teacher's Day.
