Rajasthan Assembly Targeted By Second Bomb Threat In 14 Days; Security Agencies On High Alert

Jaipur: High alert in the Rajasthan capital on Friday after the state Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) received a bomb threat, marking the second such security scare in less than a fortnight.
The threat, sent via an anonymous email, triggered an immediate evacuation of the premises and a massive multi-agency search operation.
According to police officials, the email was received by the Assembly Secretariat at approximately 9:15 AM.
The message warned of four powerful explosions set to occur at 1:00 PM, allegedly carried out by two suicide attackers brought from Chennai.
The email specifically claimed that the attackers would be wearing explosive belts that would automatically detonate once they reached their targets within the high-security complex.
Rapid Security Response
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), and dog units rushed to the site to conduct a sweep of the complex.
Security personnel spent nearly three hours combing through every floor, office, and corridor.
Entry points were sealed, and traffic around the Vidhan Sabha area was diverted as a precautionary measure.
After a thorough search, authorities confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosives were found.
The threat was ultimately declared a hoax, and staff were allowed to re-enter the building by late afternoon.
This incident follows a similar scare on April 13, when the Assembly, the Rajasthan High Court’s Jaipur bench, and several district courts received identical threat emails.
In that instance, the coordinated threats also prompted wide-scale evacuations across the city’s judicial and administrative hubs.
Investigation and Impact
The Jaipur Police have registered a case and are investigating potential links between these recent emails and a series of hoax threats sent to schools and hospitals across India in recent months.
Security has been permanently heightened around the Vidhan Sabha, with increased frisking and surveillance at all gates.
While the "all-clear" has been given, the repeated nature of these threats has raised concerns regarding the impact on employees and the resources required to handle such frequent emergencies.
For now, Jaipur remains on high alert as agencies work to unmask the perpetrators behind the chaos.
