Rajasthan: Curfew imposed and internet blocked in the town of Malpura

Curfew has been put in place and internet access has been suspended in the town of Malpura in the Tonk district of Rajasthan on October 9. The reason for the curfew being reported is due to stone pelting by miscreants during the Dussehra procession on Tuesday after which the locals began protesting. The Ravana effigy burning eventually took place early on Wednesday morning. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to keep a control on any untoward incident.

60-feet tall Ravana effigy falls
A 60-feet tall Ravana effigy fell before it was set on fire in the Vesu area of Surat. The strong winds brought down the effigy during the Dussehra festivities on Tuesday, October 8. No casualties and injuries were reported amongst the crowd of hundreds of people who had gathered to watch the demon King being burnt. This happened because the effigy fell on the opposite side of the crowd. The organizer of the event, Anil Agrawal said it was not possible to set the effigy upright again quickly so the Ravana was torched while lying on his side. The effigy burnt amid light showers in the city.
PM Modi attended Dussehra celebrations in Dwarka
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Dussehra celebrations at Dwarka in New Delhi on Tuesday, where he took part in the ceremonial festivities. During the event, he shot an arrow at a 107-foot Ravana effigy symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
