On Karnataka government clearing 4% reservation for Muslim contractors, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad says, "The BJP is against this, and we will keep opposing it... Religion-based reservation is not permissible under the Indian Constitution... Reservation on government contracts is completely unconstitutional... It can be allowed on the basis of social backwardness...but it is not permissible (to provide) directly to a religious community..."

An explosion took place outside a temple in Amritsar, damaging its walls and shattering its window panes. 

While no one was hurt in the incident, it has caused panic among the residents in the Khandwala area of Amritsar. CCTV footage of the incident shows two unidentified persons coming to the Thakur Dwar temple on a motorcycle. After waiting for a few seconds, one of them throws some explosive material towards the temple and then they flee the spot.

An assistant sub-inspector died after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of people in Bihar’s Munger district. The deceased has been identified as ASI Santosh Kumar Singh, posted at Mufassil police station in Munger.
