New Delhi: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confidently asserted that India is poised not to just keep up with the digital advancements but has the capability to lead them. Praising India's rapid advancement in the digital infrastructure, self-reliance, and global leadership, Scindia at the Republic Plenary Summit 2025- The Limitless India, showcased a bold vision for India’s role in shaping the future of technology and innovation globally.

Speaking at the mega event, Scindia spoke about India's incredible journey in revolutionising its telecom industry. From initially following global trends in 4G to aligning with the world on 5G, Scindia stressed India's growth it is now determined to lead in 6G.

"The future highway of the world is the digital highway. And on the way to this digital highway, India is among the top three telecom markets...We followed the world on 4G, we marched with the world on 5G and we will lead the world on 6G," the Union Minister asserted.

"India today is among the top three telecom markets in the world," Scindia continued, underlining how the country has become the second-largest telecom market globally. With more than 120 crore mobile subscribers and nearly 970 million internet users, India’s growth in telecom has been nothing short of extraordinary. The country has also become the largest consumer of data worldwide, with an average user consuming 21 GB of data per month.

The Minister emphasized that India’s transition to 5G is not just about technology; it's about empowering citizens and building a sustainable and self-reliant infrastructure. He proudly stated, "In 21 months, we deployed 465,000 towers, bringing 99% of India’s districts and 82% of the population under 5G coverage. And all this with an investment of 4.25 lakh crores."

A Vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat

Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat,' Scindia highlighted how India is not relying on foreign equipment for its telecom networks. Instead, the country will develop its own 4G stack, with CDOT manufacturing the core, Tejas Networks producing the Radio Access Network (RAN), and TCS integrating the entire system.

Scindia was particularly proud of India’s ability to compete with global giants in the telecom equipment space, including Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung. India, he asserted, is not only catching up but is now setting its sights on leading the future of telecom technologies.

Speaking further, Scindia expressed that India is no longer a country that operates defensively but one that is assertive and proactive in shaping global tech and innovation landscapes.

"The India I live in is confident," he said, adding, "India is a nation of disruptors. Today, we are not just a market for the world; we are shaping the future of technology."
