After Ranveer, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani Moves SC, Seeks Cancelling Of Case | LIVE | Image: Image: Facebook

India's Got Latent Row: The Supreme Court during the hearing on Friday issued notice on YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani's plea against the multiple FIRs registered in different states over the remarks made during an episode of the "India's Got Latent" show which he co-judged with Podcaster and main accused in the case, Ranveer Allahbadia. Chanchlani, one of the individuals named in the case linked to alleged obscenity in an online show, moved the top court to either quash the FIR or transfer it to Mumbai. The case primarily revolves around podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remarks on stand-up comedian Samay Raina's show India’s Got Latent, for which he is the key accused.

The matter was listed for hearing before a Supreme Court bench headed by Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh on Friday. Chanchlani’s plea, drafted by advocate Shubham Kulshreshtha and filed through advocate Manju Jaitley, argued that the FIR lodged at Cyber Police Station, Guwahati Crime Branch, should be quashed, as it was registered later. The petition also seeks a transfer of the case to Mumbai, citing that FIR No. 05 of 2025 was filed first at the Mumbai Police Station Nodal Cyber.

Meanwhile, the Gauhati High Court granted interim bail to Chanchlani earlier this week, directing him to appear before the investigating officer within ten days. His legal team has maintained that he did not make any objectionable statements during the show, asserting that the allegations in the FIR are against co-accused individuals.

India's Got Latent Row: Supreme Court to Hear Ashish Chanchlani's Plea Today

The Supreme Court will hear YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani’s plea on February 21, a day after granting interim relief to podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia in the same case. Chanchlani has moved a writ petition, seeking the cancellation of FIRs registered against him in Assam and Maharashtra, mirroring Allahbadia’s legal move.

The case stems from controversial remarks made in a recent episode of the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. Chanchlani, who was part of the show, has argued that he was not responsible for the statements in question. His legal team has urged the court to quash the Assam FIR or transfer it to Mumbai, where another FIR was registered earlier.

Allahbadia had received relief from the Supreme Court after facing similar charges, and now all eyes are on Chanchlani’s hearing. The case has sparked debates over online content regulation and the legal accountability of digital creators.
