KVIC Likely to Get a New Chairman

New Delhi: The Centre is likely to appoint a new Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), with Puneet Goel of Uttar Pradesh emerging as the frontrunner for the post, according to top government sources.

Sources said the government has substantially completed the process for Goel’s appointment, and an official announcement is expected after the conclusion of the ongoing Parliament session.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), a statutory body under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), is responsible for promoting khadi and village industries, generating employment opportunities in rural areas, and providing financial and institutional support to micro and small enterprises.

The Commission is currently headed by Manoj Kumar Goel who has been serving as Chairman since July 2022. During his tenure, KVIC has recorded significant growth, with khadi products achieving record sales and expanding their presence in domestic as well as international markets. The organisation has also played a key role in strengthening rural entrepreneurship and supporting the government’s vision of self-reliance through the promotion of khadi and village industries.

An official confirmation regarding the proposed appointment is still awaited, and the government has not yet issued any formal notification.
