Chinese astrology: Know your unlucky numbers as per your Chinese zodiac

In the expansive world of astrology, there are myriad combinations with which to ascertain one's present and future, for believers. One such widely respected branch is that of Chinese astrology. Much like conventional mainstream astrology, Chinese astrology too categorises people across twelve zodiacs. The difference between the two lies in the fact that while birth dates and months determine one's zodiac in the former, one's birth year ascertains their zodiac in the latter.

Rat

Those born in the year 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008 or 2020 are the rats of the Chinese zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 5 and 9 as the former represents lack while the latter represents endings.

Ox

Those born in the year 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009 or 2021 are the oxes of the Chinese zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 5 and 6 with the former representing anxiety and the latter representing dullness.

Tiger

Those born in the year 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 or 2022 are the tigers of the Chinese zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 7 and 8 with the former representing unsteadiness and the latter representing dictatorship.

Rabbit

Those born in the year 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011 or 2023 are the rabbits of the zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 1, 7 and 8 representing arrogance, isolation and hindrances respectively.

Dragon

Those born in the year 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 or 2012 are the dragons of the zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 3 and 8 representing restlessness and excess of ambition respectively.

Snake

Those born in the year 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001 or 2013 are the snakes of the zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 1,6 and 7 representing ego, self-righteousness and detachment respectively.

Horse

Those born in the year 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 or 2014 are the horses of the zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 1,5 and 6 representing dullness, over-confidence and arrogance respectively.

Goat

Those born in the year 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 or 2015 are the goats of the zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 4 and 9. 4 sounds much like 'death' while 9 represents an excess of ego.

Monkey

Those born in the year 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004 or 2016 are the monkeys of the zodiac. Unlucky numbers for them are 2 and 7 with the former representing indecisiveness and the latter representing detachment.

Rooster

Dog
