Ramadan 2026: It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered one of the most significant festivals for Muslims. This month-long observance involves daily fasting, known as Roza, during which Islamic devotees refrain from food and drink from dawn until sunset. Each evening, they break their fast after communal prayers (salah) and by sighting the crescent moon. Ramadan is also the month in which the Quran is believed to have been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. This annual observance is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam. Fasting during this month is obligatory for all adult Muslims, with exceptions made for those who are acutely or chronically ill, travelling, elderly, breastfeeding, pregnant, or menstruating.

Ramadan 2026: Date

This year, the holy month will commence on February 19, unless a sighting of the moon on February 17 or 18 alters this decision. If it begins on February 19, it will conclude on March 19, also depending on moon sighting. Following this, a 3-day festival, Eid al-Fitr, will start on March 20.
