It falls on Shukla Paksha Tritiya in Shravana month, two days before Nag Panchami. Sawan month is devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, so women observe fast to seek blessings. This year, Hariyali Teej will fall on August 15.

Hariyali Teej 2026: Significance

The day is primarily celebrated by married women who perform puja and visit their families. However, the women who are going to be brides may also observe a fast to be blessed with a desired husband. This festival is also referred to as Sindhara Teej, which derives its name from a collection of gifts and treats known as the sindhara, presented to the daughters and in-laws by her parents and includes homemade sweets, ghewar, henna tubes, bangles and other items.

On this day, wake up early in the morning and wear fresh traditional clothes. Try wearing a green outfit as it holds great significance. Take a Sankalp to observe a day-long fast. Some observe nirjala fast, in which they don't even drink water. Worship Goddess Parvati for their husbands, conjugal bliss and a happy married life. Break the fast after performing puja.
