Debate With Arnab: Air India Wants Compensation For Airspace Shutdown Post Pahalgam

Air India has reportedly sought a ₹4,000 crore subsidy from the Indian government to offset losses incurred after Pakistan closed its airspace following the Pahalgam terror attack. According to Republic Media Network sources, the airline claimed that rerouting long-haul flights to Europe and North America led to massive operational costs, including higher fuel and crew expenses.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has now summoned Air India CEO Campbell Wilson over his comments, as other Indian carriers have not requested similar aid. Wilson’s statement that Pakistan’s continued airspace restrictions have caused a ₹4,000 crore loss has sparked controversy and raised questions about the airline’s financial management and transparency.
