Debate With Arnab Goswami: Supreme Court’s Big Ruling on Scheduled Caste Status | Full Debate
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court made it clear that anyone who converts to a faith other than Buddhism, Sikhism, or Hinduism cannot still be considered Scheduled Caste members. A bench of Justices PK Mishra and NV Anjaria ruled that an individual loses their eligibility for Scheduled Caste status if they change to a faith other than these three.
The Supreme Court cited the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950, emphasizing that, regardless of one's birthplace, conversion to a religion not covered by it leads in an instant and total loss of Scheduled Caste status.
