Cancellation of Olympics will not be discussed in Tokyo says IOC chief

Cancellation of the Tokyo Olympic Games will not be on the agenda when Thomas Bach travels to the Japanese capital next week.

Restricting the impact of COVID-19 definitely will be.

"We are now coming to a crucial stage of the putting of this 'toolbox' together with the COVID countermeasures, said the IOC President.

"And I hope that then after this visit, we can give even more confidence to the athletes, to all the participants of the Games, about the safe environment they will then see in about nine months from now."

Bach announced that team owners and the NBA players’ association have agreed on a shortened season - meaning fans might be able to see the likes of LeBron and Giannis in Japan.
