'I wouldn’t argue': Adam Gilchrist Once And For All Settles the Virat Kohli vs Joe Root Debate
Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has settled the longstanding debate - who is the better cricketer between Virat Kohli and Joe Root.
Virat Kohli and Joe Root are two of the best cricketers of the modern era and are part of the prestigious ‘Fab 4’ alongside New Zealand's Kane Williamson and Australia's Steve Smith.
Joe Root's recent performances for England and breaking the record for the most Test centuries ever scored by an English batter has once again brought the debate to light with many suggestions coming that Joe Root might be better than Virat Kohli . But Australian cricket legend and former wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist has settled the debate once and for all.
Adam Gilchrist settles Virat Kohli vs Joe Root debate
Former Australian cricketer and World Cup winner Adam Gilchrist on his YouTube podcast with England's Michael Vaughan ‘Club Prairie Fire’ settled the Virat Kohli vs Joe Root debate once and for all.
In their latest episode, Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan were discussing who is the better batsman between Joe Root and Virat Kohli .
Gilchrist was clear that Virat Kohli was better than Joe Root in both T20Is and ODIs with Test cricket being the only format the English batter comes close.
While, the competition was close, Adam Gilchrist did point out that Virat Kohli 's consistent performances in Australia does give him a slight edge.
"In the last short while. Over a long period, Joe Root’s stats are well he is the best England ever had. Where are we playing? In Australia don't think Joe's scored a 100 here has he?", asked Adam Gilchrist.
Michael Vaughan tried to defend his countryman saying that he will soon score a 100. But Adam Gilchrist silenced the debate and chose Virat Kohli .
"Virat scored one of the best tons I've seen it at the Perth Stadium in the first test match ever played there. That was proper different gravy, I'd probably say Virat".
On the other hand, Michael Vaughan admitted that Virat Kohli is a better Test player in Australia but everywhere else he chooses Joe Root.
"I wouldn’t argue with that in Australia. I would say Virat in Australia against the Aussies, anywhere else I’m going Joe Root," said Michael Vaughan

Joe Root vs Virat Kohli in tests
Joe Root's performance in Australia has been woeful scoring only 892 runs in 14 Tests without a single century and an average of 35.68. But outside of that Joe Root has phenomenal Test numbers scoring 12377 runs in 145 matches at an average of 50.93.
Virat Kohli on the other hand has a great record in Australia with six centuries, 1352 runs in 13 Tests and an average of 54.08. While, overall Kohli has scored 8848 runs in 113 matches at an average of 49.15.
