'Dil ke arman ansuoo mein behe gaye': Irfan Pathan takes a swipe at Pakistan
Following Pakistan's exit from the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Irfan Pathan takes a swipe at Pakistan. Pakistan finished 5th on the points table.
Pakistan finished fifth in the points table after losing to England in Kolkata to end their 2023 World Cup campaign. Pakistan's ambitions of making it to the last four were scuppered when England decided to bat instead of Pakistan; Babar Azam's team needed to win by at least 287 runs, and their chances of qualifying were much more difficult when they batted second. Pakistan faced an unlikely situation as England scored a robust 337/9, making it impossible for them to attain the goal in just 6.4 overs.

Irfan Pathan takes a jibe at Pakistan
Even though it was evident at the mid-innings break that Pakistan's chances of making it into the World Cup semi-finals were over, they did not present a competitive batting display and were bundled out at 244 to suffer their fifth defeat of the tournament. The defeat became a subject of derision for former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan. Pathan poked fun at Pakistan after their exit from the World Cup. Pathan took to X to state "Kai padosi X cricketers ke dil ke arman ansuoo mein behe gaye."

Pakistan's abysmal run in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023
Pakistan started on a positive note, and following two wins the team ran into India. India obliterated Pakistan, which dismantled Pakistan's momentum. Following that Babar Azam's team lost 4 in a row and then became dependent on other teams' results to qualify. The dependence did not pan out the way Pak would have wanted and New Zealand's win over Sri Lanka ended their contention for the semi-final. Pakistan faced England in their last league match and had a day to forget at Eden Gardens.
