'I'll say something unpopular': Hugh Jackman's Bold Statement Will Make A Lot Of Cricket Fans Angry

Cricket fans are familiar with the term Bazball, which refers to a popular strategy used by England Cricket during Test cricket matches. The strategy has often paid off, but it has also worked against them. England Test Coach Brendon McCullum made the approach famous, and the English cricketers have never shied away from using it. Australian fans may be dissatisfied with the approach, but veteran actor and avid Aussie cricket fan Hugh Jackman thinks otherwise.

Cricket Australia fan Hugh Jackman admires arch-rival England's contentious bazball approach

Jackman is a big fan of the game and enjoys watching red-ball cricket. He can be seen attending games and was also present at the 2023 Ashes series. As an Australian, the actor has enormous support for the Baggy Greens. But recently, the Deadpool and Wolverine star has shared his acclaim for England's Bazball style. Jackman was in discussion with BBC Radio 1, where he revealed that despite being an Aussie, he admires Bazball.

“I will say something unpopular as an Aussie… I love Bazball,” Hugh Jackman revealed.

Test Cricket has always featured a calm and composed playing style, but Bazball changed everything. England adopted the strategy after Brendon McCullum was made the head coach of the Three Lions. The English team took the New Zealander's aggressive playing style and displayed it in the preceding Ashes series when the Englishmen mounted a humongous comeback against Australia.

England had lost the first two red-ball matches at Edgbaston and Lord's. But the Ben Stokes-led side pulled off a win in the Leeds Test and asserted their dominance. The 4th Test Match at Old Trafford ended in a draw because of constant rainfall, and England went on to win the 5th Test at The Oval. The series, however, ended in a draw.

England will be in Test Cricket Action when they would lock horns with Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series, starting today, August 21. Ollie Pope will be leading the Three Lions as Ben Stokes is out with an injury.
