James Anderson, one of the greatest seam bowlers of all time bid goodbye to international cricket on July 12, 2024. The first Test match between England and West Indies played at Lord's was Anderson's last appearance for England. In a career that spanned over two decades, Anderson played 188 Test matches for England and took a total of 704 Test wickets. The 41-year-old played for England for 21 years and has now called time on his career.

Anderson who mainly played Test matches for the majority of his career will go down as one of the greats of the game. The English stalwart is only the third bowler in the history of the game to take more than 700 wickets. In his final Test match, Anderson might have fancied his chances to break the late Shane Warne's record of 708 Test wickets but he missed it by a whisker. The English legend finally ended his career as the third highest wicket-taker of all time.
