Mithali Raj posted a heartfelt tribute to Meg Lanning who announced his retirement from international cricket. The Australian stalwart has seven World Cup medals in her tally and is one of the most decorated Australian women's cricketers in the history of the game. Lanning captained Australia to one ODI World Cup and four T20 World Cup titles.

Australian cricketer Meg Lanning retired from international cricket

In a statement, Lanning confirmed her decision as he took down the curtain on his esteemed cricket career. "The decision to step away from international cricket was a difficult one to make, but I feel now is the right time for me. I've been incredibly fortunate to enjoy a 13-year international career, but I know now is the right time for me to move on to something new. Team success is why you play the game, I'm proud of what I have been able to achieve and will cherish the moments shared with teammates along the way."  

Mithali Raj did rub shoulders with Lanning on many occasions as the two were involved in many games. A legend of the game Mithali played more than 200 matches for India amassing 7805 runs in her career.

He took to X to post, 'Congratulations on such a storied career, Meg! Your list of achievements in women’s cricket and Australian cricket in particular is legendary. I've always admired your dedication and commitment to the game. It's a sad day for international cricket. Wishing you all the best for your future endeavours."

Lanning will continue to play franchise cricket and also has been retained by Delhi Capitals as she guided them to the Inaugural Women's Premier League final where they lost to Mumbai Indians.
