Former Indian and Karnataka Ranji cricket player David Johnson allegedly took his own life on Thursday by jumping from the fourth storey of a private apartment. Johnson's action was ascribed to depression, according to Republic World sources. Kothanur police showed up to the site as soon as they heard about the event. His body has been moved to Crescent Hospital so that more treatments may be done.

Former Indian cricket player David Jude Johnson, who was born in Arasikere, Karnataka, on October 16, 1971, was renowned for his right-handed batting and right-arm medium bowling. Notable accomplishments throughout Johnson's cricket career, especially on the Indian domestic circuit, including the Ranji Trophy.
During the Ranji Trophy season of 1995–1996 Johnson had a big influence; he had his highest match total of 10 for 152 against Kerala. He shot to fame after this remarkable performance, and in 1996 he made his Test debut for India against Australia at the Ferozshah Kotla. Johnson was included to the squad after India was without important spinner Javagal Srinath because of injury. Alongside fellow Karnataka player Venkatesh Prasad, he bowled in this game and took Michael Slater's wicket in the second innings.
Johnson was chosen for the South African tour after his debut, and he played in the first Test. He dismissed Brian McMillan and Herschelle Gibbs during this game. Johnson's worldwide career did not blossom as anticipated despite these encouraging beginnings. His influence abroad was restricted by his tendency to lose control over his delivery and his inability to maintain consistency.

Throughout his career, Johnson played in 39 first-class matches, scoring 437 runs with an average of 11.20 and securing 125 wickets with a best bowling figure of 8 for 55. In List A cricket, he appeared in 33 matches, amassing 118 runs and taking 41 wickets.
David Johnson’s cricket journey, though not long-lasting at the international level, left a mark in the domestic arena. Tragically, he passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 52. His contribution to Indian cricket, particularly in Karnataka, remains remembered by cricket enthusiasts and his peers.
