Rohit Sharma on how everything fell into place for Team India

Following the dominant performance in the round-robin stage and then against New Zealand in the semi-final, it is all about handing the nerves now and whichever team will hold on to it in a better manner may eventually prevail. Ahead of the encounter, Team India captain Rohit Sharma reflected on how the team grew in the competition and what allowed him to take up this overt aggressor's role. He credited the prowess of the other batters and defined the overall experience as quite pleasing.

It's quite important when I talk about role clarity. All seven of us know exactly what we have to go out there and do and perform the role. Me being the captain of the team, obviously, I have to decide what I have to do, how I have to play. And then there was a discussion with the management as well as to what we want to do from this batting group. Things have fallen in place pretty well actually and it has given me the freedom knowing that the guys behind me are in great form. You know even if there are hiccups these guys can take the role and take the team forward even if we are under pressure. So it gives me a lot of confidence and at the top to go out there and express myself and do what I've been doing from game one. So, it's quite pleasing as well.

Australia will compete in its eighth ODI World Cup final. They have won five of the previous seven, including three consecutive victories in 1999, 2003, and 2007. As for India, it is their 4th World Cup final. The team attained glory in 1983 and 2011, and the only time it came up short was in 2003 when Australia were at their dominant best. However, times have changed since then and when it comes to this edition of the World Cup, Team India is unbeaten and may serve the cold dish of revenge to the Aussies. India may enter with momentum and confidence as they defeated Australia quite convincingly by 6 wickets in the league stage. So, with all to look forward to the colossal encounter will take place on November 19, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
