FIR registered against Mitchell Marsh for indecent gesture

An FIR now has been filed against Mitchell Marsh on November 24 in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh. RTI activist Pandit Keshav registered a complaint against the cricketer as he claimed Marsh's gesture hurt the sentiments of the Indian supporters. Pandit who happens to be the president of Bhrashtachar Virodhi Sena, even forwarded a copy of the complaint to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office as he wants the player to be banned from playing cricket in India.

Mohammed Shami too raised concerns about Mitchell Marsh's gesture

Many Indian supporters did find Marsh's pose with the trophy objectionable and Mohammed Shami too echoed the same. The Indian faster bowler earlier insisted that he was hurt by the players's gesture. “I am hurt. The trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, keeping a foot on that trophy did not make me happy.”

“A complaint has been received. But so far a case has not been registered and further procedure will follow only after receiving a report from the cyber cell,” Superintendent of Police (City) Mrigank Shekhar said.

It remains to be seen whether the police take any action against the player who returned to his country after the completion of a successful World Cup campaign. Marsh was rested from the ongoing T20I series against India as he alongside Pat Cummins and a few other players will now enjoy a time off.
