India decimate Pakistan by 7 wickets

The streak which began in 1992 is still intact and with each passing edition and shambolic performance from Pakistan, it is only getting bigger and thicker. On Sunday, yet again it became apparent that when it comes to India vs Pakistan in ODI World Cups, even the law of averages fails to work. Before Sunday's clash, 6 out of the 7 times, Pak had batted second and each time succumbed under pressure, however, on this occasion, Pakistan got the opportunity to put runs on the board but the result remained the same.

After the dismissal of captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, trouble pierced through Pakistan, and at one point a score of 270 and above, which looked certain, turned into a distant reality. "A collapse that only Pakistan could manufacture" were the words of commentator Nasser Hussain describing Pakistan's innings which fell through from 152 for 2 to 191 all-out.

While jitters tend to get the better of players in the high-octane match like this, but from the first ball he faced, Rohit Sharma made it known it is not the case this time. Sharma smashed Pakistan bowlers all around the park and raced away towards the target. His knock of 86 took the game away from Pakistan and the bottom line was formed, which read, India thrash Pakistan by 7 wickets.

Wasim Akram hits out at Pakistan coach

Following the loss, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur made an odd comment that made him a subject of derision on social media and even former Pak cricketer Wasim Akram went hard on him for highlighting something which does not reflect the reason behind his side's underwhelming play. Arthur commented on the environment of the game and said he didn't think it was a neutral game.

"Look, I'd be lying if I said... It didn't seem like an ICC event, tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn't hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight," Mickey Arthur said.

Mickey Arthur's words did not land well with Wasim Akram, who chided the coach stating that an obliteration like that could not be hidden behind such words.

"I don't know what to make of this statement. Tell us what your plans were against Kuldeep Yadav, that's what we want to hear, not just random stuff. You think you can get away with this? You can't, unfortunately," an angry Akram said after the match on A Sports.
