Mohammed Shami is having a dream ODI World Cup 2023. Despite not being picked up in the first few games of the tournament, the Indian fast bowler has wreaked havoc with his amazing bowling display. Mohammed Shami is currently the leading wicket-taker amongst Indian bowlers in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Mohammed Shami breaks another record, became first Indian bowler to pick up 50 wickets
Mohammed Shami has now become the first Indian bowler to record 50 ODI World Cup wickets. He dismissed Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson in the proceeding to achieve this feat at Wankhede Stadium. He is also the fastest to reach the milestone and took two innings less than Australian speedster Mitchell Starc, who also recorded his 50th wicket in this World Cup. Mohammed Shami only became the seventh bowler after Starc, Glenn McGrath, Lasith Malinga, Wasim Akram, Trent Boult, and Muttiah Muralitharan to join the list.
Mohammed Shami also holds the record for registering the most number of wickets by an Indian bowler in the ODI World Cup history, surpassing Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath. India hasn't really felt the absence of Hardik Pandya as Shami's emergence seems to have covered all aspects.
The semifinal tilted heavily in India's favour after Rohit Sharma's team put on board a massive 397 for four, bulldozing the Kiwi attack but before the hosts romped home by 70 runs for an unprecedented 10th win in a row, New Zealand did cause considerable anxiety in home team's camp.
It was Daryl Mitchell's valiant 134 off 119 balls that had the Indian hearts racing as the equation became a gettable 112 from 54-balls with six wickets in hand but Kuldeep Yadav delivered under pressure a price-less two-run 42nd over that released the pressure.
Pacer Mohammed Shami, who had scalped top four Kiwi batters earlier, then sealed the fate of the Kiwis by ending Mitchell's belligerent knock and ended up with a gold-standard seven-wicket haul.
