Rohit Sharma breaks multiple records
In the summit clash, Rohit Sharma aggressively took on the Australian pacers during the powerplay, leading the charge with an all-out attack. Meanwhile, his opening partner, Shubman Gill, had a challenging outing in the final. Despite Gill's struggles, Rohit contributed significantly, and the duo managed to add 30 runs in the first four overs.
Rohit and Gill achieved a notable feat in the 2023 ODI calendar year, becoming the second-highest run-scorers as a batting pair. Their tally of 1523 runs surpassed the 1999 record of Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh (1518 runs). The Indian openers, however, trail the iconic duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who set the record with 1635 runs in 1998.
Although Shubman Gill departed early, scoring 4 off 7 balls, Rohit Sharma narrowly missed a rapid half-century in the ICC ODI World Cup final against Australia. Notably, Rohit set two impressive records during his innings. His six No. 86 surpassed Chris Gayle's record, making Rohit Sharma the player with the most sixes against a single team in ODIs (86 vs Australia).
