Patrick goes back to back! Pat Cummins secures hat-tricks in two matches, secures a GRAND record

Australia's Pat Cummins makes history as he secures the record for securing two hat-tricks in two ICC Men's T20 World Cup matches.

Pat Cummins has been an absolute beast in the realm of cricket and has remained an absolute beast in recent history. Under his reign, Australia won the WTC Championship and also went on to win the ICC ODI World Cup after pulling off a major turnaround in the tournament. The spree of success seems to be continuing in 2024. The star-pace bowler has been on an absolute roll as he competes in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup as Cummins has been wreaking havoc with the ball. The Aussie sensation has put up his best display in the past two matches, as he has done something perhaps no bowler has been able to achieve.

Pat Cummins makes history! Secures two hat-tricks in two T20 World Cup matches to make history 

As Australia faced Afghanistan in the Super 8 match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Pat Cummins was in a destructive mood as he went into a wicket-taking spree. The Aussie bowler was able to take out three consecutive wickets against Afghanistan and jolt their momentum. It is not the first time that he took a hat-trick in the ongoing tournament as in the preceding match against Bangladesh, Cummins took a Hat-trick. Now, in the ongoing clash against Afghanistan, he did the same.

Pat Cummins dismissed skipper Rashid Khan, Karim Janat and Gubadin Naib in three-back-to-back deliveries to record his second hat-trick in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He has now become the first player to pick up two hat-tricks in a T20 World Cup tournament. It was the overall 5th hat-trick by an Australian player in T20Is and the third one in the World Cup

Speaking of the match, in the first Innings, Afghanistan looked like a solid force, and Australia was having a hard time with the ball. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran showcased their intent with the bat as they recorded their half-centuries before losing out on their wickets. Once the openers were sent to the cleaners, the Aussies got their moment as they took out six scalps, and Cummins' hat-trick limited the Afghans to the score of 146 runs.
