A football finance expert believes Pep Guardiola would leave Manchester City if the club were found guilty of breaking the English Premier League's financial fair play rules.

Following a four-year investigation, City were charged on Monday with over 100 breaches of the league's financial rules between 2009 and 2018.

Kieran Maguire - a senior teacher in accountancy at Liverpool University - thinks Guardiola would end his seven-year tenure at Etihad Stadium "within 24 hours" if the club are found guilty.

Maguire is also of the opinion that some of City's Premier League rivals would be in a favour of a points deduction, which would harm the club's Premier League title hopes and could jeopardise their place in future Champions League seasons.
