'We Wanted More': Cristiano Ronaldo Speaks For The First Time Since Portugal's Euro 2024 Exit
Portugal exited Euro 2024 with a heartbreaking loss to France on penalties in the Quarterfinal. Post the loss, Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken for the first time.
Cristiano Ronaldo's final Euro tournament with Portugal ended in heartbreak as he was unable to lead his nation past the Quarterfinals against France.
Cristiano Ronaldo had confirmed prior to the game against France that Euro 2024 was going to be his last European Championship with Portugal and wanted to make it a tournament to remember. However, that dream fell flatly when Portugal lost to France 5-4 on penalties in the quarterfinals.
As Portugal exited the Euros a lot was made over whether Cristiano Ronaldo should have started or not. Is his time for Portugal up or not as he failed to score a single goal in the tournament barring the penalty shootouts. With all the noise around him, Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken for the first time since Portugal's Euro 2024 exit.
Cristiano Ronaldo's message to Portugal fans after Euro 2024 exit
For the first time since being knocked out, Cristiano Ronaldo decided to speak for the first time as he took to Social Media to share his thoughts with the fans.
Cristiano Ronaldo said that Portugal deserved more out of the tournament given the way they played and was sure the legacy of Portugal will continue to carry forward in the future.
“We wanted more. We deserved more. For us. For each one of you. For Portugal. We are grateful for everything you have given us and for everything we have achieved so far. On and off the field, I am sure that this legacy will be honored and will continue to be built. Together," said Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly dejected after Portugal's tournament ended on penalties and alongside Portugal's rock in defence Pepe, both bowed out from Euros having won the trophy back in 2016. As Portugal's tournament ends so does the era of Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo - two of the greatest players for the red and green outfit ends in European Championship.
