Red Bull provides security to Verstappen as Perez's fans expected to create a ruckus in Mexico

Red Bull is reportedly providing security to ensure Max Verstappen's safety during the upcoming F1 Mexico City Grand Prix 2023 in Mexico City. The precautionary step has been taken in response to the boos and negative reception Verstappen received from Mexican fans in Texas. The entire Formula One contingent was in Austin last week to take part in the United States GP, where Verstappen won the race. In contrast, the Mexican racing driver and Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez received a lot of love and admiration.

Red Bull gives two bodyguards to Max Verstappen
Red Bull's consultant, Helmut Marko, confirmed the decision to have two bodyguards accompanying Max Verstappen in Mexico, emphasizing that while the Dutch driver himself may not have felt the need for such measures, the team has a responsibility to ensure his safety. This step was taken in light of threats made via social media, cited F1-Insider.
Additionally, the report states that Red Bull anticipates that Sergio Perez will release a public statement to help minimize the potential hostility that may be directed at Verstappen from the fans during the Mexican Grand Prix, further safeguarding the team's interests and their drivers. Note, that Verstappen is the most successful driver in Mexico with four titles.

Is everything okay between Verstappen and Perez?
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have experienced a rollercoaster-like relationship as teammates, with a significant incident occurring in Brazil last year. During that race, Verstappen refused to obey a team order to allow Perez to overtake him, highlighting the tension between them. The pair came dangerously close to colliding on two separate occasions during the opening lap of the Austrian Grand Prix Sprint this year.
