New Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda strikes out seven in intrasquad game
The Japanese right-hander pitched five innings and allowed six hits and three runs during the Twins' intrasquad game at Target Field
Minnesota Twins offseason signing Kenta Maeda said he is ready for the season on Monday.
The Japanese right-hander pitched five innings and allowed six hits and three runs during the Twins' intrasquad game at Target Field.
Throwing 84 pitches, Maeda gave up a two-run homerun in the second inning, but he pitched well by striking out seven batters to conclude his last competitive pitches in the summer camp.
There was a scary moment for Maeda in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit new free agent slugger Josh Donaldson with a pitch, but Donaldson appeared to be fine at first base.
Maeda joined the Twins from the Los Angeles Dodgers over the winter.
