Padma Awards 2026: Rohit Sharma Conferred With Padma Shri, Ex-Tennis Star Vijay Amritraj Receives Padma Bhushan

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been conferred with a Padma Shri during the Padma Awards ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Former Indian tennis star Vijay Amritraj also received the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on June 23.
Rohit missed the first Civil Investiture Ceremony for the Padma Awards 2026 on May 26 and arrived for the second Civil Investiture Ceremony with his wife, Ritika. During this ceremony, a total of 65 Padma Awards have been awarded, including two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan and 56 Padma Shri awards.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India's men's team clinched the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title in Barbados and the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. The Mumbai Indians star remains one of the most prolific batters in ODI history and has set his sights on the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Hockey star Savita Punia has also been awarded the prestigious Padma Shri. The goalkeeper has been one of the most eminent players for India in the international circuit and led the Indian Women's Hockey team to the 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze, followed by Asian Champions Trophy titles in 2023 and 2024.
Vijay Amritraj had reached a career-best ATP ranking of 18 and guided India to the Davis Cup finals in 1974 and 1987.
