Elon Musk's enterprise X (previously recognised as Twitter) has introduced a fresh element on its platform. The micro-blogging site has recently ventured into the realm of professional networking by launching a beta edition of "Hiring," a feature designed to rival prominent job search platforms like LinkedIn.
“Unlock early access to the X Hiring Beta — exclusively for Verified Organisations,” X wrote in a post.
The Hiring feature from X, which is currently undergoing testing, offers verified organisations the chance to publish job openings on their profiles. This new initiative is exclusively available to premium subscription members, a category that has become more attainable following recent modifications to the platform's premium program prerequisites.
Monthly fee is $1,000 (around Rs 82,300)
At a monthly cost of $1,000 (approximately Rs 82,300), verified companies have the opportunity to gain a notable advantage by showcasing job positions on their X (Twitter) profiles.
According to tech news website Neowin, the Hiring feature also allows companies to import job-related information through compatible Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) or an XML feed. Although the current capabilities of the Hiring feature may not match the breadth of offerings on LinkedIn, it undoubtedly offers a distinctive opportunity for companies looking to expand their recruitment approaches.
Observers within the industry view this endeavor as a significant stride towards transforming X into an "everything app." While it might not immediately pose a substantial challenge to LinkedIn's dominance, this move reflects X's intention to broaden its purview and undertake multiple roles within the realm of technology.
This strategic decision could be a result of X's recent acquisition of Laskie, marking its inaugural acquisition since Musk's involvement. The integration of Laskie's expertise into the platform's development process could play a pivotal role in conceptualising and launching the novel Hiring feature.
Verified organisations will not incur any charges for posting job vacancies on X. Entities with verified status will have the capacity to present a total of five job openings on their profiles.
