It seems that now Google and Dropbox - each with their own cloud storage offerings, are deeply integrated enabling you to create new Google Docs documents and edit them right within Dropbox. This should practically be a boon if you are a business user on Dropbox.

Now, this integration called the Dropbox for G Suite is in open beta at this point in time, in case you are a business user, you would require signing up for the beta. Do remember to use your account administrator credentials here.

Google + Dropbox deep integration

If you are a Dropbox Business user, then you could now resort to doing the below as far as your Google Docs documents (and others) are concerned:

  • Create brand new Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides from Dropbox, potentially minimizing time spent to switch between various apps/tools

  • Save and keep your Google Docs in Dropbox in tandem with other files, irrespective of the type of file. This should enable you to find all your documents/presentations under a single roof

  • Easily collaborate and stay up-to-date on your team’s work by receiving Google Docs edits and comments as notifications from Dropbox

  • Share Google Docs using Dropbox’s secure and robust sharing permissions, ensuring the right people have access to the right content

Here, remember that the above integration is a beta program and the time to sign-up for this open beta ends on 6 May. Now, with this feature applicable to business users, it should now be interesting to note that there should be comparatively more savings as far as time is concerned.

Finally, as per a 9to5Google report, you would also require a G Suite account to access and edit your Google documents in Dropbox. Nonetheless, when the service exits beta, everybody with a Google account would reportedly be able to use Google Docs within Dropbox.
