Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok to be available for X premium subscribers
Musk mentioned that Grok might decline to answer sensitive or inappropriate queries, such as providing instructions for making illegal substances.
Elon Musk's AI venture, xAI, is making strides in the development of a conversational AI model called Grok, which competes with models like ChatGPT and Meta's Llama 2. Grok leverages "real-time access" to information, and much like ChatGPT 4, it can browse the internet for up-to-date data on various topics.
However, Musk mentioned that Grok might decline to answer sensitive or inappropriate queries, such as providing instructions for making illegal substances. Grok's responses also appear to be infused with humour, according to Musk.
Musk revealed that xAI would release Grok to a "select group" on November 4, with the plan to make it available to subscribers of X's Premium Plus plan once it's out of the early beta stage. Little is known about Grok's specifics or xAI's broader research projects. In September, it was disclosed that xAI had signed a contract with Oracle to train its AI models on Oracle's cloud.
Elon Musk's xAI, launched in July, aspires to build AI with a deep understanding of the universe. The company is led by Musk and includes experts from various AI and tech backgrounds, with advisory input from Dan Hendricks, the director at the Center for AI Safety.
Musk's pursuit of AI has evolved following his separation from OpenAI co-founders Sam Altman and Ilya Sutskever, leading to the creation of xAI.
