OpenAI reaches Anthropic for potential merger: Report

OpenAI's board of directors has reportedly initiated discussions with Anthropic's co-founder and CEO, Dario Amodei, exploring the possibility of a merger between the two companies. The Information reported this development on Monday, citing an individual with direct knowledge. 

This move followed the firing of OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman. The board was reportedly trying to persuade Amodei to take over as CEO of OpenAI. 

According to the report, Amodei swiftly declined the CEO offer due to his commitment to Anthropic, a startup known for its chatbot named Claude, which competes with OpenAI's ChatGPT.
